Edinburgh University assesses each applicant using a combination of academic results, UCAT deciles, and SJT scores. The weighting for each component is as follows:

Candidates invited for assessment day will be provided with more information about the structure of the day.
Resits are only accepted in exceptional circumstances and are generally not considered.
FAQs
Edinburgh uses UCAT scores as part of the selection process, with the SJT Band 4 resulting in automatic rejection. There is no fixed UCAT cutoff, but the lowest UCAT for interview in 2025 entry is 2,450.
Edinburgh's interview consists of an assessment half-day with group discussions and individual interviews. The assessment focuses on attributes required for a medical career.
The personal statement is not formally assessed in the selection process but will be reviewed during the interview for insights into your motivations and work experience.
You need AAA at A-Level, including Chemistry and another science subject. GCSEs must include Biology, Chemistry, English, and Maths at Grade A (7).
