Edge Hill University follows a multi-stage selection process:
All applicants are screened to ensure they meet the standard academic criteria. Applicants who do not meet these criteria will not move on to the next stage.
Applicants who meet the academic criteria will be ranked based on their Old UCAT score. Those who meet the threshold are invited for an interview.
Important: Any applicant with a Band 4 in SJT will be automatically rejected.
The personal statement and academic reference are not routinely used for interview selection. However, they may be used to differentiate between candidates if there is a tie in scores.
The interview is conducted using the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) format. It assesses the following attributes:
A-Level and GCSE resits are accepted.
Old UCAT scores are used to rank applicants. The lowest UCAT for interview in 2025 entry is 2,450, and SJT Band 4 applicants will be automatically rejected.
The interview uses the MMI format, assessing qualities like motivation, empathy, teamwork, and communication.
The personal statement is not scored but may be used to differentiate candidates if there’s a tie in scores.
You need AAA at A-Level, including Biology and Chemistry, plus 5 GCSEs at Grade 6/B or above, including Biology, Chemistry, English Language, and Maths.
A-Level and GCSE resits are accepted.
