Brunel University follows a two-stage selection process:
Personal statements and references are checked to ensure applicants meet the minimum academic requirements. Applicants who meet or are predicted to meet the academic criteria move on to Stage 2.
Applications are ranked based on UCAT scores. The highest-ranked applicants are invited to interview. For those who have no UCAT/GAMSAT scores, the personal statement and references are reviewed, and applicants are ranked based on their academic grades. These applicants are invited to interview only if there are still available places after all UCAT/GAMSAT applicants have been interviewed.
Note: There is no UCAT cutoff, but SJT Band 4 applicants will be rejected.
The personal statement and references are reviewed in the first stage of the selection process but are not critical for deciding who is invited to interview.
No specific UCAT score data was provided for Brunel. However, applicants will be ranked based on their UCAT score, with higher scores prioritised for interview invitations. SJT Band 4 results will lead to rejection.
The interview is conducted in the Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) format, lasting 1 hour.
Each station will be aligned with Good Medical Practice, testing various attributes such as empathy, communication skills, and problem-solving.
A-Level resits are considered on a case-by-case basis, particularly for applicants who have faced extenuating circumstances.
UCAT scores are used to rank applicants for interviews. Applicants with SJT Band 4 will be rejected, but there is no fixed cutoff score for UCAT.
Brunel uses MMI format for interviews, consisting of 6 stations, each lasting 10 minutes, assessing attributes like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
While the personal statement and references are reviewed in the first stage, they are not pivotal in determining who is invited to interview.
You need AAA at A-Level, including Chemistry and Biology, and a second science or Maths. At GCSE, you need five Grade B (6) subjects, including two science subjects, with Grade C (4) in English Language and Grade B (5) in Maths.
A-Level resits are accepted but are considered on a case-by-case basis, especially for applicants who have had extenuating circumstances.
