A very common question that we’re asked about is what inspired the birth of Medology Network. Here’s a beautiful explanation by Ustadh Mohammed Isaaq, a world-renowned teacher of Islamic Medicine & Psychology, which encapsulates one of the key realisations we had as a team - that we’d be wasting the potential of the platform we’d built with Medology Admissions, if we didn’t use it to help current and future healthcare professionals become more well-rounded and build their Mind, Body and Soul so that they can then become better advocates for holistic health, themselves.
The human being is a complex species, with many different needs - medical & dental students learn about this with the biopsychosocial model. In today’s day and age, spiritual needs are often overlooked and that’s what we’re trying to revive with the Medology Network.
Just as our physical body requires its health to be preserved and maintained, so does our soul with regular nourishment through engagement in spiritually fulfilling activities, meaningful relationships, and a deep sense of purpose. These are integral to maintaining our spiritual well-being, which in turn enhances emotional resilience and overall mental health.
As the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said, "Take advantage of five before five : your youth before your old age, your health before your sickness, your wealth before your poverty, your free time before you are preoccupied, and your life before your death.
This saying further highlights the necessity of caring for our well-being across all stages of life and aspects of self - be it mental, physical, or spiritual.
One final thing we have to say is that the Medology Network isn’t just confined to people involved in the healthcare field. Everyone has an important role to play in it - which you’ll see in The Future. It also isn’t just for Muslims only - we believe the values promoted are applicable to all of humanity and there are so many opportunities on the way that everyone will enjoy and benefit from.
